After a Year of Ashes: A Young Man from Gaza Dreams of a Safe Life Beyond the Ruins
Ahmad is rebuilding his life after the war in Gaza
Edge of a new dream — a dream of peace, dignity, and the freedom they’ve been denied for more than a year.
Ahmad says:
“After our lives came to a complete halt because of the war, and after losing everything we had, all that remains for us is hope.
We just want to start again — to live like everyone else, in safety, dignity, and peace.”
Ahmad and Samar dream of leaving Gaza, to start a simple, quiet life filled with love and security — far away from fear and destruction.
But the path to that dream is full of obstacles, the greatest of which is the cost of travel and resettlement, amounting to around $6,500, which Ahmad is now trying to raise by all possible means.
He adds:
“We’re not asking for the impossible.
We just want to live.
To see the world from a different angle — one that isn’t war.
To rebuild our home in a place that protects us and gives us a fair chance to live like others.”
For Ahmad, this isn’t a plea for charity but a plea for life — a chance to begin again after years of struggle and loss.
For him, this journey represents a second birth, a beginning in a world guided by love, freedom, and peace.
